General Purpose

The School Accountability Committee (SAC) is commissioned by and responsible to the Loveland Classical School’s (LCS) Board of Directors.  The SAC’s responsibilities are outlined in detail in the Colorado Revised Statutes for School Accountability Committees (22-11-401 and 22-11-402).

Appointments and Composition

The committee (as defined by statute) must be composed of at least seven members: the Executive Director or their designee, at least one teacher who provides instruction at the school, at least three parents or legal guardians of students enrolled in the school, at least one adult member of an organization of parents, teachers, and students recognized by the school, and at least one person from the community.   In addition, up to two Board members may be on the committee.  The members of the committee shall annually select from among the parent representatives to serve as chair or co-chair of the committee.

Reporting Structure

The SAC should meet monthly and submit monthly written reports to the board via the board liaison.

Responsibilities

  1. Recommend to the Finance Committee its priorities for spending school moneys.
  2. Evaluate school program effectiveness in the form of student achievement, parent satisfaction, and school safety.
  3. Monitor progress on LCS’s strategic plan goals and accreditation goals.
  4. Create and administer school surveys to parents, teachers, and students, and share compiled survey results with the Board of Directors.
  5. Discuss whether school leadership, personnel, and infrastructure are advancing or impeding implementation of the school’s performance, improvement, priority improvement, or turnaround plan, whichever is applicable or other progress pertinent to the school’s accreditation contract.  
  6. Recommend goals and targets for improvement, as required, and monitor improvement progress.
