The Great Books and Great Works of the Western tradition have withstood the test of time and give insight into our heritage, history, and humanity. Classical education requires an intimate study of primary sources which allow students to grasp what an author actually said. Classical education involves a study of the original, not a study about the original.
The trivium is a classical method of educating meaning, the "threefold way." Being the first three of the seven traditional liberal arts, the three paths of the trivium are grammar, logic, and rhetoric.
As essential as a diligent work ethic is, moral integrity is even more vital. A classical education engages students in works and discussions that train students to act with great character even if those around them do not.
