Loveland teacher Cathy Ballenski received $2,500 from Farmer’s Insurance to install large pipe chimes and colorful drumming instruments on the playground at Loveland Classical Schools.

The equipment will provide physical and mental exercise for students, and for those who access the playground outside of school, to develop strong bodies and minds, according to a news release.

Local insurance agent David Stansfield presented the Thank America’s Teachers grant to Ballenski on Monday. She is among 60 teachers from across the country to be chosen for a grant.

Teachers submit their proposals for the grant online, and then the insurance company selects 60 winners during three different rounds of awards. Teachers also may submit proposals for the final round, called the Dream Big Teacher Challenge, which will result in six $100,000 grants across the country.
