Mrs. Gomez studied Biology with an emphasis in Zoology at Colorado State University and Metropolitan State University. She completed an immersive Marine Science program at the University of Hawaii at Hilo and enjoyed the field work and data collection on the endangered Green Sea Turtle Chelonia mydas. She has her degree in Biology and her minor is in Elementary Education.
Mrs. Gomez has coached basketball for 10+ years at the high school and middle school levels. She has been a basketball referee for many years and officiates at the high school and college level. She enjoys an active lifestyle with her husband, Erick (of 15 years) and her three children: Zac, Elena and Camila, Her hobbies are exercising, cross-fit, camping and hiking, scuba diving, and training her labradoodle and poodle.
Katie is a proponent of the core knowledge sequence and loves how it shapes the whole student. She is excited to teach second and fourth grade. Mrs. Gomez hopes to pass on her love of the sciences and is looking forward to instilling the same appreciation of the natural world in students at LCS this year.
