Mrs. Mitchell graduated from Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, and received her M. Ed in Curriculum and Instruction, and M. Ed in Leadership of Learning, with minors in Digital learning and Conflict Resolution from Abilene Christian University in Abilene Texas. She has certifications in Gifted and Talented and English as a Second Language. She began her teaching career teaching Fifth grade in Texas, then moved on to teaching Gifted and Talented students K-6 as a pull out program. As her career continued, Mrs. Mitchell was assigned as part of an academic excellence committee to develop a program that would allow students to move to the “Next Step After Mastery” for all children, which became known as the Challenge Lab. It is her goal to leave no child left unchallenged.
As a Gifted and Talented Coordinator, she guided students to think critically while preparing them to engage in high level learning. She initiates peer mediation teams, is a Student Council Adviser, First Lego League Coach (Volunteer /Judge), and Campus Technology Representative. She also wrote several grants to benefit the school and annually held a “Show Case” of Learning.
Most recently, Mrs. Mitchell was a Gifted and Talented Specialist, K-12 for Uvalde CISD in Texas. Mrs. Mitchell has been a presenter for local, state and national audiences. She considers herself as a lifelong learner, and has a love of classic literature.
She has four children, oldest son is in Denver, her daughter and granddaughter are in Loveland, one son a Senior at Abilene Christian University with major in Engineer/Physics and her youngest son is a Sophomore at Texas Tech University with a major in Business. Her husband is a STEM teacher at Bella Ramera Elementary, Greeley. She is delighted to be on this team!
