Renaissance Day is a showcase of the many amazing topics fifth grade students are learning in their different disciplines. Living portraits of famous explorers, artists, inventors, scientists, writers, and royalty come to life as students come dressed in character and share a memorized speech of their life stories with classmates and parents. In English, they study Shakespeare and perform a Mid Summer Night’s Dream. Using the scientific method, students test gravity in their science class as they learn about Galileo.  In math, students complete problems using new signs developed during the Renaissance.  In art, students display art pieces created of the Mona Lisa. In music, they study Renaissance composers and music styles. Latin assignments are focused on that time period. Finally, parents and students share in a Renaissance feast!
