The Colonial to American Revolution (CAR) Day is an annual all-day event for first grade students. Colonial-related activities are featured in P.E., science, math, English and history classes. Dressed in colonial costumes all day, students calculate taxes to pay King George III in their mathematics class and study Benjamin Franklin, electricity and movements of atoms in science. History features historical plays written by the first graders with help from their families, while in English the students recite poetry about George Washington and write parts of the Declaration of Independence with quill pens. The plays are then performed in each respective first grade classroom. After the play performances, LCS hosts an independence family picnic on the playground. Guests are welcomed to join and should dress comfortably as we may have some fun games at the picnic.
