LCS’s Return to School Plan
Update: January 15, 2021
LCS Academy Families,
We are excited to share that the LCS administration and Academy faculty are currently planning for a return to full in-person school, 5 days/week, for LCS’s middle and high school programs, grades 6-12, at the Academy Campus for the entire 4th quarter, beginning on March 22.
(For students who wish to remain on the fully-remote learning option to study from home, this learning option will still be available through the remainder of the school year, including for the 4th quarter in the scenario of full return to in-person school, 5 days a week for in-person students.)
On January 4, 2021, Larimer County moved down to level “Orange” in Colorado’s “COVID Dial”, which based on the revised criteria (as of 1/6/21) designates that in-person school is now “suggested” (i.e. allowed) for middle and high school.
This is very exciting news as we progress through what’s hopefully the later stages of the COVID-19 pandemic and we continue to offer the most and best educational opportunities for our students that we can in as safe a manner possible.
As an overview of the timeline, please see these points:
– February 22: There will be a 3-week transition period beginning Monday, February 22 when all in-person students will come to school 3 days/week, on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. As of February 22, the 2-day hybrid rotation (“Maroon” and “Gray” days) will no longer occur. We will transition to full class sizes on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday by combining the two existing grade-level cohorts. This transition period will also allow the asynchronous online electives to finish the quarter (which will move to Tuesday and Thursday for all Academy students).
– March 15-19: Spring Break, no school for all students grades K-12.
– March 22: After Spring Break beginning on March 22, the LCS Academy is planning for a full return to in-person school, 5 days/week for the duration of the 4th Quarter.
(Please note that this timeline is contingent upon the public health situation and public health agency orders/guidance at the time.)
We will send further information in the coming weeks reiterating these points and to share more information as we approach the February 22 date to begin the transition of in-person school 3 days/week to end the 3rd Quarter. We wanted to inform you of the latest updates regarding our planning for in-person school and to provide as much advance notice regarding the anticipated timeline for your family’s planning
Please let us contact us if we can be of any assistance or if you have any questions.
