Building Rome in a Day

Behind the scenes the night before Third Grade Roman Day

LCS third graders left school as usual on Thursday afternoon. On Friday morning, they’ll come back to ancient Rome.

The school day may have ended at 3:10 p.m. The last student pick up may have been around 4:00 p.m. But at 8 p.m. third grade teachers and classroom coordinators were still hard at work decorating classrooms and the hallway in preparation for Roman Day. It’s an important part of the immersive experience that captures student imaginations and makes historic theme days so memorable.

Although the decorations went up in a few hours, the prep work, costumes and planning took weeks. So it turns out that even at LCS, Rome wasn’t built in a day.
