Last Saturday, the LCS Academy held the 2nd Annual Classical Symposium. The Symposium served as a community event that highlighted topics within Classical Education and allowed our teachers to present about, and engage with, others in the areas that they are passionate about.
An Array of Experts
In addition to a myriad of exciting seminars on topics with titles such as ‘An Exploration of the “Lyric”’ and ‘Mathematics and the Liberal Arts Tradition’, guests were treated to several musical performances throughout the day. Senior Kira Sheppard and Freshman Ethan Larrew, who played a string duet during the breakfast as people arrived, provided an introduction for Keynote Speaker Barbara Thiem. Thiem is an internationally acclaimed Cellist and music instructor at CSU who performs all over the world, including at the International Draeseke Conference in Coburg, Germany. After attending two seminars, guests then enjoyed lunch while being serenaded by the LCS Madrigal Choir. Over 100 attendees came together for this lively exchange of ideas and, we are already looking forward to hosting this event again next year!
