Danielle Ray

Art Teacher
Grades 1-5
Extra-Curricular Sponsor: Art Club

Mrs. Ray has been teaching elementary art at LCS since the fall of 2013. She is a Colorado native, who grew up in the Vail Valley. Much of her childhood was spent learning to paint and draw with her grandmother, Raina. Inspired by her grandmother, Mrs. Ray moved to Fort Collins in 2004 to pursue a degree in Fine Arts, hoping to fine tune her skills and to one day guide and encourage other young artists just as her grandmother had done for her.

In 2008, she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Education from Colorado State University. After receiving her degrees, Mrs. Ray spent four years as an onsite manager of local before and after-school programs in the Fort Collins and Loveland communities, as well as leading third and fourth grade teams during the summer months at summer camp.

Besides teaching Art to all elementary students at LCS, Mrs. Ray is also the sponsor of the Art Club, which provides 5-6 week enrichment experiences for third-fifth grade students hoping to learn more about specific artistic media. This year, she will offer two sessions, including one in the fall focusing on hand-building techniques with clay and one in the spring centered on different print making methods.

Outside of work, Mrs. Ray enjoys spending time with her husband fly fishing, back packing, and snowboarding. She is also an avid long distance runner, yogi and gardener. In the community, she is a practicing artist, who paints portraits and landscapes by commission.
