Heather Alverson

Science and History Teacher
Grade 1
Extra-Curricular Sponsor: Camp Invention

Mrs. Alverson received her degree in Elementary Education from Bryan College in Dayton, Tennessee. She has been married for twenty years and has four children of her own—one boy and three girls. Her oldest is a senior (oye!), her middle two are twins (eighth graders), and her youngest is in third grade.

Mrs. Alverson taught preschool for several years early on in her marriage. When her twins were in first grade, during LCS’s inaugural year, she volunteered often in their classroom. Volunteering and being in the classroom, seeing and experiencing classical education firsthand, reignited her passion for teaching and desire to be back in the classroom. Mrs. Alverson has been a classroom coordinator at LCS for four years and was hired as an elementary science teacher for the 2016-17 school year. Last year she broadened her teaching repertoire by teaching history and science in first grade. She is excited to be in her third year of teaching at LCS.

In her free time Mrs. Alverson enjoys painting pottery and doing just about anything that is crafty. She is a thrift store junkie and loves the thrill of the hunt and finding a good deal. She enjoys animals and her pet menagerie includes a cat, a dog, and six chickens (and Mr. Alverson’s pet Python during the summer months). For the record, she is not a snake fan!

This will be Mrs. Alverson’s seventh year at LCS, and she excited for another fantastic school year.
