Marques Kem

Latin and Mythology Teacher
Grades 8-12

Mr. Kem has been either studying or teaching Latin continuously since 1993, earning a B.A. with honors in Classics from Pennsylvania State University in 2000 and an M.A. in Classics from the University of Texas at Austin in 2003.

Throughout his career, he has taught various levels of Latin, ancient and modern history, mythology, and vocabulary. He has served as co-president of the Colorado Classics Association and state co-chair of Junior Classical League. To improve his Latin speaking, he recently attended three SALVI events including both the first and second annual Biduum Coloratanum and one Rusticatio, with more such events coming up later this school year. He has traveled to Italy and Greece several times as both a student and a teacher.

In addition to reading Latin literature, speaking Latin colloquially, and listening to podcasts in Latin, Mr. Kem tries to enjoy as much of the Colorado outdoors as possible.
